Ryan J. Carlson, PhD, a postdoctoral scholar in King Lab, was featured in the HealthDay article, "Sequencing IDs Genetic Diagnoses for Sensorineural Hearing Loss." The article quotes a paper written by Dr. Carlson and other member of King Lab, "Association of Genetic Diagnoses of Childhood-Onset Hearing Loss With Cochlear Implant Outcomes," which was published in JAMA on January 12, 2023 and can be read here. The authors write:
"Comprehensive genetic testing of children with sensorineural hearing loss is informative, medically necessary, and should be incorporated into standard care whenever possible."
